Can I Just Say

 

CAN I JUST SAY  - January 22, 2011

Can I just say - I liked the previous format (on FB)for writing notes a lot better than this one.  It took me 10 minutes to access this page where I can actually write my own notes?

 

Can I Just say - I donn't understand why I can come up with a least a chapter's worth of material as I shovel manure out in the paddock and yet when I sit down to actually write, nothing happens.  Zip, zilch, nada...(I love saying that phrase).  It's similar to that ridiculous phenonemon of being able to produce top quality vocalizations in the shower but having the world look at you strangely as you try to share your "gift" of song?

 

Can I Just Say - That the reader essay by Linda Liu (on NPR-WAMC) yesterday had me laughing so hard I almost had to pull over.  Her remarks about what is considered de riguer in terms of baby needs today coupled with her reminisces of riding in the car with family "back in the day" (circa 1972) were so spot on that I was sure that anyone else of my generation had to be laughing as hard as I was if they were listening as well?

 

Can I Just Say -  That while I recognize the fact that I do suffer from "foot in mouth disease" I had hoped it was in permanent remission?

 

Can I Just Say - That I have moment of ABSOLUTE clarity as far as my life journey is concerned and I have moments of wondering WHAT ON EARTH I am doing along with what I am supposed to be doing...?

 

Can I Just Say - That I have 5 working titles for works in progress and even the time to pursue my writing but I seem to have misplaced my discipline, will power and commitment to that endeavor?

 

Can I Just Say - That I miss my parents beyond imagining and that if they were able to return for just one hour I would be happy to relinquish one hour of my own life just to spend it with them?

 

Can I Just Say - That I do appreciate a good sense of humor along with the ability to laugh at myself but - oh heck, I'll just leave it at that?

 

Can I Just Say - That, I'll have to get back to this at another time?  The flow is drying up

 And later...

CAN I Just Say �" That both Nora Ephron & Carrie Fisher could write/act the script/screenplay of my life but decline to do so because they’d be like, “nah, been there, done that?”

Can I Just Say that if Mr. Conroy, my 6^th grade shop teacher was around today, I could regale him w/the tale of how I injured my nose…with the end of the manure fork…as I climbed through the fence…yeah- I can’t explain it any better than that but he’d understand.

I have always loved the following little daily prayer, which I have printed out and keep at my desk:

"Lord, please grant me your assistance to make it through this day. Please keep your arm placed gently around my shoulder and your hand placed firmly across my mouth. Amen."

I this has fascinating potential to be made into a longer work.
