I don't write about love a lot. This was just a small thing I wrote a few months ago that I found in my notes app. Main character is fictional. What does this invoke? Is it boring? Confusing? It's incredibly simple on purpose so that it's easy to create your own idea of who she is, and who she is talking to.

I love the comparison of sound volume as a measure of love. I find myself daydreaming a bit about what she imagines loud love to be, and what I imagine it to be. Who is she that she wishes for a quiet love? What has she experienced that informs her pause and smiled response of, "quietly"?
Lovely little character sketch that leaves me wanting more, which is a good place to end.

The closer they get to it, the hotter and brighter they feel it, and the closer they get to being overwhelmed and burned by your feelings. A quiet love is like someone who holds that fire. You can go anywhere, and know that there will always be a warm flame that you can rest by, talk to, and love back. It isn't loud or burning and doesn't cry out for your heart to be closer and closer to its hearth, it's quiet as in it wants to warm your room and cook your food but it won't intrude on your life and choices. It's a quiet love. The imagery this was inspired by was the idea of someone talking to their friend, and they turn around and see their lover, standing farther away, staring back. They are loved. They can do whatever they want and there is trust and love in the knowledge that you can always return. It's not a love that a lot of people tend to like- people like that burning love and that's okay. But sometimes you just need assurance and a partner. A quiet love. And that's what she wants!

i am a chocolate and roses guy, but i do respect people's differences. i think i've met a few girls who are into this 'quiet love.' i liked them, although i never got far with them, i do hope they got what they were looking for.
When a love isn’t with you, that love should still be felt. Quietly when they aren’t present to tell you. That’s how this brevity spoke to me Rustling leaves. Yes, love should be present always.

That is exactly what I was going for, thank you Chris!
I've been writing since I was young, I'm in college, and I'm wanting advice on how to improve my writing. Compliments are nice too.
-Psithurism means "the sound of rustling leaves." more..
