I can't sleep

I can't sleep

A Poem by Rustling Leaves
"

My eyes are tired but I cannot sleep.

"
It's my fault that my eyes don't close
I keep drawing for my phone
That light
To entertain this buzzing mind
Like a moth to a flame
The tendency is written in my DNA
I can't help myself
Compulsive feelings have me tied to it
My hand is melting into my phone
As my eyes droop into the brightness
Closing in on darkness
I am tired
Yet awake I stay
Awake I stay
Awake I stay
Until I stay no more
Yet tonight
I can't sleep

Rustling Leaves
A position I can't help but find myself in every night, it seems.

Oh God... I'm literally living this poem in real time as I squint to type this. I feel like I need to look back over my shoulder. Don't judge me.

About
I've been writing since I was young, I'm in college, and I'm wanting advice on how to improve my writing. Compliments are nice too. -Psithurism means "the sound of rustling leaves." more..
