Love BirdsA Poem by PrynkaLove birds are not just those who love each other, these birds spread love for generations. From the passenger train to reach Dharwad platform Walking to Ajji's home was just a norm The red gate always stood to welcome us The long shaded footpath waited with no fuss Ajja Ajji's face gleamed with love and affection Both sitting on the Maroon sofa looking for our reflection Our walk to reach the threshold had so many thoughts To check if neighboring kids were at the spots To walk on the greenish path, this depicted it rained Walking on the beautiful flowers, Oh well our hearts pained! The raw mangoes hanging on trees drew smiles Their aroma we felt spread across many miles The Banni tree with green blouse pieces and bangles tied The earthen lamps were lit and the worshiped tree rustled with
pride The guilt that we did not have our regular phone calls The regret that we promised to stay back was all false To the Tulsi katti where we jumped around To all the love that our grandparents surround Those ungrateful pigs which seemed to have conquered our Ajji's
garden The grit to shoo them away and pardon. Sometimes the snake seemed to have made a house And the mongoose running around still gave us a hope The squirrels came out to play hide and seek The koyal kohooed from its peak A small stage where we meet our friends last time Those meetings those laughs and those talks like chime The house which seemed so lonely and dull Suddenly was filled with laughter and the complaints went
Null Our grandparents only asked for time and love Their love and affection was fairer than dove Now you are not with us and in the sky somewhere I still gaze the sky to find you there Smiling at us, laughing with us And crying with us The glory of childhood has vaporized with you The memories are still as fresh as the drops of dew The deepest corner of hearts has your wise words The only thing I can share to my kids is about you - you
