Orion Splintered

springtime

in the northern kingdom

the Pleiades shelter behind the glare

of a temperamental solar veil

Orion hunkers down

spent from the chase

he bides his time …

a revolving piece of infinity

a glint of a grain

in splintered stardust sand

Orion vows …

his chance will come again

the light will fade

Aldebaran will fall to Bellatrix arrow

Taurus will finally yield the way

the huntsmen will have his pick of sisters

the seven laugh

the bull raises his horns in mirth

time is on the marksmans side

but still    he mutates like the rest

the growth will go supernova

Betelgeuse splint a shooting arm

in a gravitational sling

the mighty hunter will loose his aim

submit to inevitability ...

a revolving piece of infinity

a glint of a grain

in splintered stardust sand

There is an awful lot going on up there...they have their own grievances as we do down here.
I wonder if they do a better job of solving them...

They must...because even after their skirmishes the stars shine for such a long time....even after dying.
Wonderful piece, Pryde,

Thank you so much, Jacob:)
You have clearly used just the right terminology, as stars are referred to as clusters; and groups of constellations are placed in the heavens as kingdoms.

It has the feel, almost of someone telling a myth or reiterating a legend; from aeons ago.

Despite Orion biding his time, and scheming away; he eventually has to succumb to the inevitability of turning into a supernova.

In the end, his mighty ambitions can only end up as stardust; as any cosmic body eventually finds itself. And yet, some scientists still speculate - upon what might ultimately happen to matter; which has gone through a "black hole or "worm hole"...

Only you, Pryde; would bring in the bull. Sorry, I shall rephrase that.! Taurus the bull, has a cameo appearance; in this magnificent piece of cosmic prose.!

And, even Orion learns that he's not really going to be a true star for long!

The Seven Sisters? Well, those stars sure look good on camera; and easily more exciting than the Nolan Sisters.?

But, I had better take the sledge from Sister Sledge; and make a seasonal escape out of here - before Pryde turns supernova on me. For, my sheer cheek in parts of this review..!

Nah, it's the season of good will; so I'll be fine.

And, as Shakespeare famously said "All's well that ends well..". (Naturally he was familiar with my reviews too)....

Thanks, Pryde. Good to know.
Wow! I felt watching all this splendor in my mind reading these amazing designs and descriptions; you must be a physicist too other than a poet.
I love it.

Wowzy woooo. You are welcome.
This poem reflects on the transient nature of existence, suggesting that while time is on Orion's side, he will eventually succumb to the inevitable changes that come with it.
I really love the imagery you used, very rich and I love everything about the the cosmic.
Repetition of sounds (e.g., "splintered stardust sand") enhances the musicality of the poem.
Thanks for sharing.
