There's a Manta Ray in My Living Room was conceived after a dream. The dream was no doubt in response to a WC kerfufflethat I had chosen to get involved in many tides back. As some of you know I practise meditation and try very ardently to stay in touch with my higher self, to behave as my conscience and not my emotions/ego would have it, something easier to do when the air and the waters are calm … much more difficult during a storm. But always there are your dreams, your subconscious, to offer some guidance.
There's a Manta Ray in My Living Room is published in Monsters
Monsters contains the short story series Demons, Harlots and Crones, which follows two generations of the Demeere family and its legacy of spite and envy. Included in the series is Demon in High Socks; Holler it out with Lemonade; the Old Lady, Her Plymouth, and Cockroaches; Sex in a Pan; and the Fire Crone and Stone Harlot. Also within Monster’s pages are fifty-odd poems exploring the darker side of human nature and its undeniable conclusion. Two Orphan Sparrows, the Devil is a DJ, the Last Striptease, Beware of Librarians Promising Freedom and many more titles are found within. Ultimately monster asks the reader to look at the darkness found within herself and by facing it, perchance move beyond.
what is more dangerous? the potential danger inside or outside?
those meditative thoughts float around me...on the outside there is turmoil...but i know mantas can sting...
i can hurt myself worse than anyone on the outside can hurt me.
This is terrific, I also practice meditation but I need to cut back on the frozen yogurt

Well done, it is so hard to put fragments of dreams into words when you wake up because the scenes can be so bizarre or unbelievable, or the moment you are awake, the memory fades. You caught it well here.
I walked on the ocean floor in Mexico, with a helmet over my head, connected to an air hose, one of the highlights is when a huge ray swam by, and we could touch it. I kept seeing that while listening to your poem.

Thank you, Noel. They are both spiritual and natural wonders for sure:)
"rippling above my sofa" What a lovely image that painted for me. Are pages of verse every truly a thing of the past? Do we write them and then toss them off....flippantly? I don't think so. I think once we have given birth to an idea...written it with care....it becomes part of our very being. As always, lovely to hear your voice, Pryde. Lydi**

Worth can be found in all verse if you know where to look. But for me I write poetry because I believe it to have healing properties … I write because I think it might help others to a greater understanding of themselves and the world … less suffering … but being only human there are time where it is my suffering that need easing and I wonder if I know at all of what I speak. I set a high bar for my personal poetry and sometimes high bar for myself … those two bars do not always meet. To understand you might give this one a listen:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PqTg0uTjs4 … a high bar indeed.

I have to confess that is a subject I know nothing about but I did not come unprepeared as I read a couple of things as I woudn't come empty handed. I am kind of lost with the meditation context but for the very little I just read it seems that there are many kinds and most of them used as a toolf for self - knowledge. So a tool, I assume like anything in life it needs practicing and refining and that's where one could create the comparision to the writing. The manta ray compared to the motif on pedal music, a constant, always making you go back to it as a centre, the vast ocean the silence needed for the imbuing. So, it continues as a centering moment like a vase I would assume waiting to be filled.
By what? I woudn't know
Thankyou
