Monsters contains the short story series Demons, Harlots and Crones, which follows two generations of the Demeere family and its legacy of spite and envy. Included in the series is Demon in High Socks; Holler it out with Lemonade; the Old Lady, Her Plymouth, and Cockroaches; Sex in a Pan; and the Fire Crone and Stone Harlot. Also within Monster’s pages are fifty-odd poems exploring the darker side of human nature and its undeniable conclusion. Two Orphan Sparrows, the Devil is a DJ, the Last Striptease, Beware of Librarians Promising Freedom and many more titles are found within. Ultimately monster asks the reader to look at the darkness found within herself and by facing it, perchance move beyond.

' But unlike a shattered heart .. A broken mirror cannot hold a memory..'
To hear your words tumble this tale is incredibly moving and real.. whether imagined or experienced hurt rarely fails to alert a being to move on further, higher. And yet, there's a fragile feeling running through your words, a weakness of spirit, a heart so near to death. But reading a third time, there's somehow a strength.. .. mayhaps you've felt the emotion of..
Wonderful. I love the imagery of falling leaves in any context, but I especially like how flawlessly it melded with the breaking heart line - and that the relationship aspect didn't overwhelm the falling leaf word choice.

It is a metaphoric piece and it is meant to draw on symbolic meaning and does ask the reader to think abstractly. But in short I liken a breaking heart to falling leaves which I then liken to falling shards of a broken mirror and then we come full circle and the mirror is like the memory of a broken heart. A circular think … but yes I can see how it might be confusing. lol.
"Leaves fall and they thrilled me
Cutting cracks in the cold still air"
The imagery and the metaphor are wonderful. Love cuts like a knife....how true this is. Listening to you read your words makes this even better. Congrats on this one and others being published...certainly deserved! Lydi**
