Strays is a collection of two extended narratives and more than forty love-themed poems, exploring the meaning of romantic love while we have it and attempting to find the healing after its loss. Found within these pages is the short story Gutter Dog, the novelette Ginni, and the poems False Skin, the Boy Who Wore Clothes, and the Black-Wit Reveller.
We face so many tests of emotion in this existence: passion, grief, shame, anger, hate, and fear. As you get older, you realize most emotions, as intense as they may feel, will eventually fade to nothing. Given time, all emotions fade, all but one… love. But then love is no emotion. I speak not of roses and butterfly flips in the gut, but real immortal love. For even after the form fades away, the love goes nowhere. Underneath it all, that is what we are--love.

This was very well said Pryde:) That same love can cure all things if we use it. We all were gave tools at hand to make a world see a better light. That's how I feel anyways.
I suppose grief is a form of love as well...at least that's what I will tell myself to kick back the sadness...you've said much in a small piece here Pryde, well done.
love the bookend wisdom and a very compassionate poem ... and i enjoyed reading your note almost as much .. true true so very true .. i hope "A" is finding solace .. :(

Grief and love are intertwined at times. It is because we love deeply that we grieve when someone passes. Do emotions all fade? I am not sure of that. I think perhaps we allow them to hide during periods when the emotions are too intense to deal with. When the monumental weight of emotions is too much to bear, we allow them to fade for a while....yet they do reappear. We are love.....I liked that concept.....your poetry is deep and wise, Pryde. Sorry for the loss. But love will always be especially the immortal one like you stated in this wonderful poem. We do hold dear to the precious or priceless humans and things in their loss. Bravo...................
You know love can come and love will go from our lives, it is what we take from every relationship that helps define who we are… loved you train of thought on this poem.
