Grief/Love

Grief/Love

A Poem by Pryde Foltz
"

For A … our thoughts are with you.

"

Grief

with grief comes knowledge

knowledge that you loved; you love

therein lies solace

everything shifts and changes

the constant remains the same

Love

Published in Strays. Available on Amazon.

Strays is a collection of two extended narratives and more than forty love-themed poems, exploring the meaning of romantic love while we have it and attempting to find the healing after its loss. Found within these pages is the short story Gutter Dog, the novelette Ginni, and the poems False Skin, the Boy Who Wore Clothes, and the Black-Wit Reveller.

Author's Note

Pryde Foltz
We face so many tests of emotion in this existence: passion, grief, shame, anger, hate, and fear. As you get older, you realize most emotions, as intense as they may feel, will eventually fade to nothing. Given time, all emotions fade, all but one… love. But then love is no emotion. I speak not of roses and butterfly flips in the gut, but real immortal love. For even after the form fades away, the love goes nowhere. Underneath it all, that is what we are--love.

Whenever I feel like asking what is it all for? Love is usually the best answer. Nice work.

Thank you, Tammy:)
Emotions are for the present and are quiet short-lived in the scheme of an eternity but love is an more of an action that echoes throughout the ages. I can go on going deeper into how distinct love is. A religious piece of literature says on the three things that will last an eternity the greatest is love. So I'm reminded of its importance as I take in this poem!

Grief is so hard to conquer sometimes. We never lose that feeling, I don't think. This is such a thought provoking piece and can be interpreted in many ways. Love, love, love this!
