Desperation, terror, hope, and regret and a lover's longing for reunification all linked together. I really liked the "lion is me, the roar is all yours" as it leaves the matter up for interpretation - is the lion's roar at the service of the other or has the lion already surrendered her roar?

Very insightful review, Steve.

This had two distinct parts of a story to me separated by the watery depths before the "and" and the air below the and. Dwelling on the meaning of the lines of the lion is me and the roar is all yours.

Yes, the lion is the strength you would give to those you love and thus the roar is for them.
The lion is me...I love this statement. Majestic, proud and someone you don't want to mess with lol. Absolutely beautiful poem.

Again and great big thanks.
Wonderful poem - I found the lion as protective. As redemptive. Come back land and the soft earth is ours . Such a beautiful line.

The Lion would, indeed like to protect, alas the bird is far to afraid to land. ;) Thank you for you.. read more

Oddly enough I was thinking of the sinking of the Titanic reading this. The LION as I saw it was the blind panic of the people on-board as they crowded and stepped over each other in their haste to escape the ship into the longboats.

A very difficult situation to think about. I am so surprised that they were not better prepared for the catastrophe and ensuing chaos and warped psychology of the survivalists.
