OPPRESSION

OPPRESSION

A Poem by Prospero

In a world full of hope
Where lions rule the plains
And their roar quakes the earth,
Where a shooting star is an omen
For men whose destinies are wed
To how much land they can wrest
From those of peasant birth,
Where the cyclone of economic progress
Gave birth to the seeds of doom
Where survival is a death race
That pits man against man
And against Gaya's pregnant legacy.

In a world where one only sees
With the eyes and not the heart
Where darkness is only a mystery
That unseen is best forgotten
Where men and women dance
To music that others have made
And pay homage to the muse
That inspired such galactic sounds
And after all is said and done
Where success is still the measure
Of the distance one has traveled
On the backs of the oppressed.

This is one of the poems that make you stop, sit, think and marinade in the words expressed so strongly but passionately. You have an amazing quality with word choice and descriptions. I truly enjoyed this.

my fav line. Because I love lions! ha. but either way, this poem is very deep and intelligent. You had a strong message and you conveyed it very well.
