The Light of the UniverseA Poem by Prospero
Once I stood in a gloomy cave
Dark and cavernous, like a grave
In step, the dwellers shuffled blind
With no thought, but self on their mind.
And all like one large moving mass
With hope at bay and eyes like glass
Ambled toward the distant light
So far to be near out of sight
For thirst, they drank another's blood
And proudly raised the trophy head
To dictate to the guiding light
That divine honor was their right
The timeless ebb'n flow of the orbs
Dotted the caves with hallowed gobs
Although at times, they seem to fade
God's grandest gift is with the spade
I reached out to all who were near
To ask them to be without fear
Dim through the misty panes of light
Floated visions of broken mirrors
I sat acquiesced in the dark
And to the light, I turned my back
I watched my breath and spoke His name
And bade the light to come to me.
