Trust In the Dark

Trust In the Dark

A Poem by Prospero

My Sun rose at the crack of dawn
To dispel like wind with hails of light
The shadowy tricksters in my head
And their might to crowd my sight

The shadows host every unseen dread
Oh, tortured souls the living to scold
The frantic heart each beat a boom
Resounding through the darkening gloom

I thought I saw my destiny clear
Although the signs were hardly there
In time I saw in plain hindsight
My vision divine was just a farce

Cartographers dart to decipher
The map of time etched in the ether
The tail of a comet streaks by to mean
Neither hope nor fear can set you free

Take giant steps and enter the gloom

Worry not from whence spring your doom

Darkness spawns the eye of the soul

And where it leads there you must go

Love the light but trust in the dark

For both do swing to please your sight

Though by light each step you measure

The looming dark measures your years.

Be not afraid of unseen dread

Savor the light and devour the dark

The lot of life though cast by light

The darkness shrouds your divine right.

I'm not all that great with giving analytical reviews, but I will say this:

"Cartographers dart to decipher
The map of time etched in the ether
The tail of a comet streaks by to mean
Neither hope nor fear can set you free"

This is absolutely lovely. You have created such beautiful imagery with timeless metaphors and equal flow. A truly astounding piece of work. Nice job.
