I totally get what you're saying about the poetry police, which I try not to be part of! I started at the cafe 5 years ago after a lifelong professional writing career & I had strong ideas about what "good" writing was all about. The younger, fresher writers on this website have taught me a thing or two about losing my "corrective" approach (who cares about grammar & spelling, it's the HEART of a message that matters!) But I can also see this message in a very different way, about politics in the USA, which are so divided. I just don't want to hear that crap from "the other side" (Trump supporters) anymore. I tried to understand them, tolerate them, ignore them . . . but now I'm blocking them! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
PS this poem is superb in terms of making a poignant point!

So I thought I'll make a point because it's their Art and they deserve to express themselves the way they prefer. I agree with you, my dear friend Margie! Whether poetry police or politically motivated nuisance makers, we must block!
Thank you for appreciating my point! HUGS!
I think often critics intend for others to write just like they do, and if those poets don't? They hound them with cutting remarks, or just try to get them to see the light...change this change that...we are all individual voices...and there are varied tastes on the part of readers...we have to find our own voices...having others rewrite our poems does not help us get to that voice...maybe sometimes...but gently.

Dear Ditzy, my fav cat, this is a very pointed write. I looked for the dick, but alas it was so tiny my eyes couldn't see it. Never really been fond of the poetry police, they have a habit of suffocating creativity. Treats for you precious. Purrfect poem, got the message across you did.
