I totally get what you're saying about the poetry police, which I try not to be part of! I started at the cafe 5 years ago after a lifelong professional writing career & I had strong ideas about what "good" writing was all about. The younger, fresher writers on this website have taught me a thing or two about losing my "corrective" approach (who cares about grammar & spelling, it's the HEART of a message that matters!) But I can also see this message in a very different way, about politics in the USA, which are so divided. I just don't want to hear that crap from "the other side" (Trump supporters) anymore. I tried to understand them, tolerate them, ignore them . . . but now I'm blocking them! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
PS this poem is superb in terms of making a poignant point!

So I thought I'll make a point because it's their Art and they deserve to express themselves the way they prefer. I agree with you, my dear friend Margie! Whether poetry police or politically motivated nuisance makers, we must block!
Thank you for appreciating my point! HUGS!
this is visual art...philosophical art...social critique art...wordplay with brush and paint taking the audience to a point...point of reflection? point in an argument? a point in the singularity that we all are?
cheers to you for a Wonderfull piece...

I think this shape poem has barbs sticking out of it! The invective is raw and brutal indeed. Effective and filled with conviction Dhara.I have to say there are some who overdo the correcting but I think there is a balance as young writers (and older 'newbies' such as myself) learn only with insight and by taking notice of form and structure of some kind. One thing that I fear insults art is platitudes, don't you think?

Thank a lot, John.
I so enjoyed this, Kat. Unfortunately, poetry sites are made up of people from all over the world and they all have their own agendas. I have learned to post poetry for me. I enjoy reading poetry, but I am no longer an English teacher and I don't have to correct anyone. I have never mastered the art of a shape poem. This one is great. Lydi**

Lol! Still scratching with those claws, i see! Another poetry cop! So many of them! Your poem is very poetic yet gets its message across very effectively. I am not a fan of mediocre writing, yet its not my place to point it out to others. Sometimes a simple typo or edit can fix a poem to perfection. Who needs the lecturing?. I love the layout and simplicity of your poem. It hits hard and with poetic grace. So well done, Ms Kat! Keep those claws sharp! :))

What beautiful imagery, that someone would dare condescend the mountains or the sea. Take it to the "murky depths" . I have to say though, I have received some very constructive criticism on this site from some brilliant poetic minds that had a lot to offer. There's a difference between "you used the wrong 'your'" or "have you thought of this rhyme instead because it's saves the cadence" and just "you suck at life". I want realistic honest criticism from a poetic community. To that end, you captured an emotion and a moment perfectly and even did so in a difficult format. Good job.

Lol okay this is pretty awesome. I write a few "reviews" every night, but honestly they're more like my inner thoughts, points for discussion, and complements instead of actual reviews. Poetry is like an art form and there's not really a standardized definition of "beautiful" because you could ask 30 people and get completely different answers. Poetry is all subjective and every poem is beautiful in it's own unique way, just like art. You could paint me a freaking blue square, put it next to Picasso and Michelangelo, and I'll tell you that all three paintings are wonderful for what they are. I strongly agree with what you said lol. Thanks for sharing!
