People with avarice in their souls cannot write worthwhile poetry. To write poetry that moves, one must have substance within them. People who have nothing in them can write forever but will only come up with contrived, wishy washy poems. Poems with no soul. Maybe perfectly structured but lacking that something that makes a poem a poem. It’s their conceit that makes them keep spinning like Arachne, (Greek: “Spider”) in Greek mythology, who endlessly spins useless webs after being cursed by a Goddess for her vanity.
I think you are right with this
I had always hated poetry. Then, a cupola yrs. ago, out of the blue, I wrote a (so called) poem and I enjoyed the rhyming
My so called poetry is written just for fun
I have paid a bit more attention to form after a few complaints but I can't seem to successfully enter the world of serious or romance.
Good thinky bit here Dhara Ditzy Kat
Oh! and BTW, Thanks 4 yor visit but no books (yet?)

If I wrote as well as you I'd probably compile a book :) Thanks for the nice review.
Truly speaking, this is one of the best writing I've ever read.
And it's unique because of its contents. It's an enlightenment, it's a piece of advice, it's a reminder, and as well a caution.
I kinda agree with what you're saying & I commend you for having the courage to put it so plainly. There are writers more concerned with meaning & other writers seemingly concerned with only form. I have had this conversation many times with best friends on this website, as I think we all have. Those who act like the poetry police, with regard to form, are not intentionally annoying. I think they are just baffled & intimidated by those who have layers & layers of meaning woven like tapestries into their poems. Those with a seemingly shallow approach to reviewing, overly concerned with "corrections" -- this is becuz they are often unable to grasp the message or to respond to it. It does seem like some of those preaching "form" are pompous & conceited . . . I used to be so furious to read their judgmental drivel. But now I see them in a more sympathetic light. It's like the people who automatically distrust anyone who uses big words . . . they are afraid of what they don't understand, so they have to kill the source of this discomfort by putting the other person down. Sorry for sermonizing . . . your take on this is equally valid, of course! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

i think avarice, like the love of money, has its roots in evil ... no matter what ones profession is ... the struggle to shed darkness of the soul is life long for all

The more I think of it, the more your words ring true. Thank you Andrew.
Extreme Vanity definitely does not write from the heart...
and form often rules with an iron hand, but not so much a soft touch of soul.
very much agree with what is written here.
