Enough

Enough

A Poem by Dhara_Ditzy Kat

You say you miss me

but you’ll never miss me

enough.

The snake in you will keep

rearing its head again and

again.

Till it has eaten all that

you cherish and

love.

Till nothing remains on

You, around you or

in you.

Yet you will stay charmed

by your own shadow,

besotted by

your snake.

And that’s why I know

you’ll never miss me

enough.

This was a nice piece, Dhara, and as I read it, all I could think of was this song.
Side note; Donald Trump kept using this in his toxic speeches, and the daughters of the authors told him to quit using it if he didn't want a lawsuit filed over it.

The Woman and the Snake

On her way to work one morning
Down the path along side the lake
A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Poor thing," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"
"Take me in tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

She wrapped him up all cozy in a comforter of silk
And laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk
She hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had been revived
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in by now you might have died"
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake
"I saved you," cried the woman
"And you've bitten me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

one of the very first things me old Dad taught me was never fall in love with a snake... dunno why he told me that.. but he was a wise fella.. and so far I took him at his word and never have... always carry a bottle of anti snake bite serum in me back pocket... and come to think of it.. I was bit by a viper earlier this year and ended up in a Bulgarian hospital....... not a nice bite but a nice write.. just had to get that in..

Thank you so much Fran Marie.
A snake can't love. There is nothing loving about a snake. Enough is enough I say. Interesting write.

I agree with you about the lack of love and compassion in snakes. They do symbolize darkness often. .. read more

The snake depicts so much in life.
R.E.Ms horrible Asp comes to mind.
Maybe that's why snakes shed their skin. Moving from person to person.

There's a strange underlying feeling in this writing, somewhat menacing rather than loving. The snake spits at emotions here.. taunting perhaps?

I can feel the love. The love should also feel me. :)
Thank you for your kind words here.
Snakes are often depicted as evil, I love that the inner demon is the snake. There will always be evil within those individuals. Loved it!

Much Love
