If
A Poem by
Dhara_Ditzy Kat
Dark
caustic clouds
bitter
fuming winds
bilious
downpours
outdid
themselves
in
choking a benign
gently
lit flame
Yet,
an ember
does
still breathe
in
a tiny pocket of hope
under
tons and tons
of
wet, acrid ash
upon
a promise unsaid
So
seek its warmth
not
with a pallid mind
or
a twisted intellect
but
seek it with a
penitent,
hopeful heart
as
you would seek
a
lost, forsaken love

This writing makes an immediate impact with its strong images of devastation and destruction. But how effectively, within the short lined structure, the flickering flame makes its presence felt and we are led along the pathway not only of hope but of grace.
These words touched me.

I saw this as being a tiny flicker of hope. I enjoyed the language chosen in this poem Dhara.

I hate to hope sometimes. But it is in our blood, I guess. Thank you very much :)
This has the feel of Halloween.
Mind you, it is that time again.
Great flow.

A returning past love can be as scary as Halloween ;)
I agree with you. Thank you.
I like this Dhara. Marvelous wordplay, setting outland roiling snares, then succumbs to assimilation by steadfast devotion by lack of avarice.
