Immolation ProvidesA Poem by S.L.HDone for the "Write a poem using the given words" Competition
No more do I fear the fire, for it is my companion.
It is my weapon in my wars, and my heat in the coming colds. Yearning with its flicker, it cheats me with fantasies of friendship. I reach out and it burns me I learn from it without it wanting to teach anything. Precious as it is and scarlet as its hatred burns, I am eternally drawn to it. It births from nothing but knowledge, by my hand, and owes me nothing for the life I gave it. Dance by the flame, an affair with danger over life, though the life needs the fire. I cannot trust my friend, fire, but it has never trusted me. This, I cannot deny, is a wise choice. © 2013 S.L.HReviews
