Becoming Self Aware

Becoming Self Aware

A Poem by William Propsner
"

What I see as others see

"
Becoming Self Aware

As I look down at my own hands
I see the young man I once was.
Riding a bike, fishing in a lake
Seeing them as someone else.

Looking at my own body in the mirror
I see an older man, with an age worn face
The strength still there in my eyes
The smile that so many have loved.

Then my mind becomes active
It sees the young man I was
The boy who became a man
It sees what other people see

As my mind looks at itself
It tells me that someday this body
Will cease to exist, to become lifeless
Then the man I am becomes self aware.

May it always be…..me

Indeed, and you may find that you were greater than you ever suspected.

This great poem describes aging of the body and the inner view towards the past. Good work

I normally do not do poetry. But this 'thought' has always made me think.
