What is knowing who you are

When you know everything about you

Your bio, your name

No its looking through other individuals Eyes

 

When you look through different eyes besides your own

You will realize that every thing is different in someone else’s

Views who am I and who are you and what is this place you

People call life

 

Knowing who you are

Do I know who I am

Did I look through other individuals eyes

Yes but the question is do you

I feel like this sometimes. You really don't know who you are until it is your time to leave... even then your very lucky if you do get the gift of ... well you.

And so goes forth this battle of "what if"s and "could have been"s.
You do not define "you"....
They do not define "you"...
Nor "themselves"...
What you "do" does not define you -
What you "say" does not define you -
Though...that would be all too simple...wouldn't it..

Society would love to embrace each of their lies,
They would all enjoy a good false accusation -

Society believes that "they" define the world...
That "they" have the right to...

but here's the thing....you cannot define yourself,
nor anyone else, and, vise versa ...
It's such a contradiction that almost everyone fails to recognize.

I did however enjoy the way you worded this,
especially the end line there,

"Yes but the question is do you"

... that question... could mean a number of things...
and it leaves the reader to wonder.

I think I do this too much! To the people, (which I know more who DO NOT than DO), real empathy, better judgement, less irrational decisions are made when you do what this poem says. I am glad to read a piece like this on WritersCafe. This is the first of this kind of poem I have read. Kudos!
