Office Charades

Office Charades

A Poem by Profkim

I don’t feel like being nice today.  I’m not in the mood to schmooze or play along.  My bullshit tolerance has reached an all-time low.  I don’t want to discuss the sudden drop in temperature outside or your kid’s soccer/baseball/basketball/football game.  I don’t care about your fabulous international vacation plans or the promotion you thought you deserved.  I sincerely wish my boss(es) would decide exactly what he/she/they really want me to do.  “Other duties as assigned” is getting on my nerves.  Today my only recourse is to retreat into my 6 x 8 cubicle where they pay me to think amidst my neighbors’ audible personal business.  I struggle to focus and conjure up whatever creativity I may have left.  But honestly, this façade is giving me a headache.
