House Hunting

House Hunting

A Poem by Profkim

Once I dreamt

that you were a rat

and I was a woman.

You were small, brown,

and beady-eyed

with not much to say.

I was just me,

loud and domineering.

 We set out

to find a house

 for you and me

and our rat child.

The perfect house

had to be large enough

for me

 to stretch and breathe,

but with tiny crevices

for you

to crawl into.

We settled

on a lovely tri-level

(one for each of us)

on the good side of Rat Town

of course

and even though

I was only human

you said

I fit right in.

The ending brought it to a great close, and the piece as a whole was well done, sweet in a way well described. Great write!
