Life is DecentA Chapter by ProfessorPadilla
I don't know if I want to go back home anymore. Life is decent here, liquor is cheap here and I can relate to most of the people who live here. Everywhere I go I can see people with similar scars as me. Luckily mine isn't as visible as the others, I can at least hide my scars behind a mask.
I saw Daniel Rose today, at the market on the corner of my street. When I walked into the store, I noticed that Daniel was yelling at cashier to give him back his bottle. "You haven't paid for it yet, sir, you need to give me money before I can give you the bottle."I gave it no mind and walked to my favorite isle and picked out the same bottle as Daniel. He and I have a similar taste in drinks, but unlike him I don't get a new bottle every other day. By the time I got back to the front of the store, the cashier had called up the manger who was threatening to call the police on Daniel. The line behind Daniel was empty, all of the customers were fighting from the fight. I waited in line for about two minutes before I got fed up with their non-stop arguing and I knocked Daniel to the floor. I looked at the cashier, "I'll buy both of the bottles." " Well, this bottle is his," as the cashier pointed at Daniel. " I'll buy them!" I handed him the money, and got both of my bottles from the cashier. As I turned to go to the door, Daniel was hovering over me with eyes full of anger and a bloodshot face. " What the hell was that for Throne!?" " Daniel? Do you want this bottle or not?" ".. Of course I want it, what do you want for it?"
" Let's go, I'll walk you home and I'll give you the bottle when we get there. " I walked out the door and started to head down the street. Daniel ran after me tripping over his own steps. Daniel started to ramble off about why he's stuck in this city, but I didn't really listen to him. I was too busy trying to figure out how he turned into a complete mess of s**t. During the war we were in the same squad . He use to be a brilliant young who had the I.Q. to be a champion chess player. He was one of the few guys I knew who could get us out of any situation. He saved our lives plenty of times. I honestly owe him my life. Unfortunately I don't believe he has a life worth saving anymore. Ever since we lost, he hasn't been the same. " Hey Throne we're here. Would you like to come inside and join me for a drink?" " No, it's okay, Daniel. I need to get home before it gets too late." " Stop being such a pansy and have a drink with me! " " Goodnight Daniel I'll see you later." I said as I handed him his bottle and start to walk back down the street. The sun started to set as I got back to the main road, but as I was walking I heard somebody call my name. I didn't look back to see who it was. I didn't feel like it was somebody of importance to me anymore. They called my name a couple more times, but I kept walking farther and farther away until I got to my apartment. I regret not looking back now. I honestly want to know who it was calling me and why they wanted my attention. Maybe I'll see them some other day. © 2014 ProfessorPadillaReviews
