The Beginning

The Beginning

A Poem by Priyashrav

For all it ends with a flash,
A bolt of lightning leaping forward,
And stripping you of all you have,
Leaving behind cries and moans,
Empty speeches and words of praise,
Regrets of what could have been,
Lament over what did happen.

But I saw it otherwise,
A shadow embracing me from behind,
As she whispered sweet nothings,
And like a long lost lover,
She reached out and touched,
Gently yet passionately,
A heart buried under rubbles.

She lured me to the murk,
Spellbound and lulled,
I walked through the road,
Which lead to her realms,
Unperturbed and unaffected,
By the skulls and bones,
As they bid farewell.

For all it ends with pain,
Ghosts from the past,
Resurface from behind,
To haunt you for the last time,
But for me it didn't end at all,
It was just a beginning,
Of a hopeful journey.

. wow ... well ... this reads like an under stated love poem ... brilliantly written ... and i find your perspective about the past fascinating ... i have a similar perspective ... my past doesn't frighten me ... in fact, i believe that factoring in all the happened in my past enriches my present and my future ...
