The Dark SidesA Poem by Priyashrav
I saw in despair,
As the eternal springs of hope, Dried before me, And blood and sweat and tears. Filled its void. I heard in fear, As the soothing songs of joy, Stopped somewhere, And I sensed a snare, As it crept on me. I felt the disgust, As the breezing solemn wind, Came to a halt, And the howls of the hurricane, Spread their reign all over. I smelled the strife, As the fresh and fragrant flowers, Vilted suddenly, And the smoke of cremation filled me, With a smell too diabolic I shouted in vain, As my desperate yells and pleas, Were heard yet ignored, And they echoed through the vallies, Without the answer so awaited. I was thwarted all over, Yet gripped on the very edge, Of the depleting sanity, I pondered the cause, Of my distorted domain. Was it my guilt, Gloating and cackling up on me, After all these years, To achieve the vengeance, So justified and deserving. Was it the end, As the entities above, Decided to recover once and for all, Their prized possession, Which once they imbued me with. Was it nothing, But an illusion gone amuck, And teasing me all along, As my fears and my dislikes, Took a form so bleak and blithering. Or was it that voice, Which consoled me and assured me, And with a lump, In the throat it welcomed me, To the dark sides of a familiar world. © 2010 PriyashravReviews
