A Distant Star

A Distant Star

A Poem by Pranks

When I look outside into the deep dark night,
I see a bright tiny star smiling sweetly at me.
It blinks and winks gazing at me sometimes,
And beckons me to rise up, happy and free.
I ponder what I should do
To be there with my old friend.
I go to school and come back
I hear that IT is the new trend.
But I do not get a clue of data
The flood of knowledge is so huge.
So I go back to gaze at my star
The deep, dark night is my only refuge.
One fine day, I get a gift
It is an encyclopedia, a data storehouse.
I dare say I am not an IT freak
But throughout that night, I browse and browse.
I got to know of the stars and the sky
That reaches out to infinite heights.
Above all I got that I need to be an astronaut
To reach my friend and see all these sights.
