The Blossoms

The Blossoms

A Poem by Pranks

The rainy days have tired me out

I wait  long long days of monsoon

I wait through these dark days

I wait as the rain swirl down the wind

I wait as the water runs down the mud

I wait as the green leaves wait with me

All fatigued by the endless war with the rains

I wait with my eye lashes battered against my cheek

I wait as the tiny bird gets soaked and pleads

As we wait the winter comes along and

The green leaves think that that the rains were better

The bird flies off to some strange land in search of rains

I stay back and wait with the frost and pain

I wait so long that I forget what I had been waiting for when

I hear a tiny voice again

Behold! The bird is back

As I run out of the house, the winter melts around my feet

The green leaves reborn beckons

As I see them I remember what I forgot

And I wait for a long lost friend

As the air gets warmer and the leaves stronger,

I wait now more longingly for the first blossoms.
