One for the romantic, One for the human.

One for the romantic, One for the human.

A Poem by Priyanka Natesh
"

To the dead!

"

He knew it all along

Carried that wondrous secret smug and sly

Planned it all thorough

Bundled up his satchel

Prepared for the night

And he dove into the otherworld

Once and for all

Into the misty haze of hopes and fears

Where he quenches his longings and lusts

Playing fantasia’s his minstrels of love

Safely ensconced detached from human form

His wizened soul drifting free

And I sit here bedimmed

In a wretched world of human ghouls

Marveling his quixotic escape

Wishing for a deathly analogue

One for the romantic

One for the human.

Priyanka, this is beautiful. "One for the romanitc/One for the human". I think this is one of our two poems to a certain Lazarus we know. What a beautiful vision of death and passing. This is always an interesting road to take in writing, the dead road. The only road signs are written in a language of love and loss, and the only echo is of sadness and the rebirth of our personal souls trying to understand death from the other side, a side we can only base our visions upon how much our sorrow brings us and how much love we had for the departed.

Priyanka,
However tried , a reader can approach to the nearest of core layers of a work. It is an authenticated way. Only another writer can further peep in to with a work...and immerse in its fathomless traits.

carry on.....

I'm not sure who, what, how or when...but it really doesn't matter, does it? We all live our dash and then move on to parts unknown...sometimes as a romantic, other times as a human.....and in rare cases, both.
This poem allowed me to stand up and take notice...age will do that to a human.....and a romantic.
I loved the way you caught the essence of the transition...and the differences.
beautifully written and thoughtfully expressed, Priyanka

What a lovely ode to those who spin their fantasies into bridges between the realities and the surrealities of which they are made and those who admire the architecture of such a bridge...sorry for the strange wording of this review...hope you got the essence of what I am trying to say.

I find it interesting that you differentiate between the romantic artist (usually human) and the other humans who are grounded in reality (in theory). Well written, an instant favorite...I feel as if reading this would render incredible, new thoughts each time.

What a beautiful poem! The world of the dead- where the body matters no more, where freedom and light abound; a world of definiteness, yet infinite... Guess Death is no longer a curse, if you wish it for 2 persons currently zombied - The Human and The Romantic...
I am spellbound by your expression how creatively you've glorified death :)

Thank you very much :)
You dance us over dark thoughts and flowing rivers of humanity... here and gone... What a brilliant music plays through each line.
