WatchingA Poem by Pritika
I stood there watching with exhausted eyes,
staring into everything and nothing. Summer arrived after the cold winter's wrath, but my heart remained frozen and my feelings worth naught. I saw diamonds scattered around with its meaningless shine, but what caught my eye was a piece of rock with nothing to hide. It smelled like the Earth and felt like home, and all of sudden a smile became something I owned. I knew the diamonds were never worth anything to me, and I soon realized that I was never worth anything to the rock; for why would it choose me, one who 'stood there watching', when there were diamonds scattered around? I want to turn around, but the roles are now reversed, for now, my eyes remain frozen leaving my heart exhausted. © 2015 PritikaFeatured Review
