The Moment

The Moment

A Poem by Tom Friel

The wine was wonderful
Maybe the best Cabernet
He'd had in years
However it wasn’t the wine
That sent a bouquet of thoughts
Rushing through his head
It was the moment
A moment he would savor
For its clearness of vision
Much like a window
Jammed shut for years

Only to suddenly

Open on its own

Giving
A rare lifetime glimpse
Of everything

The past moving quickly
Towards him
Within him
Leaving a salty taste
Of emotion
And love

A gentle kiss he feeld
He cherishes the view
And holds on
To the moment
To each other
To life
