When Time Was A Friend

When Time Was A Friend

A Poem by Tom Friel

There was a time
when time was a friend.
When roses bloomed
again and again.

From winter thru fall,
you flowed through us all.
Taken for granted,
each season enthralled.

But where are you now
my once constant friend?
The child in me
does not comprehend.

Mornings when we talked
before the sun winked its eye.
Evenings when we walked
under radiant skies.

So fearless and brave,
so much we pursued.
It's all winding down,
time, I'll miss you.

Time, to wake up.
Time, let me sleep.
Time, beats against me,
with memories I keep.

This is so simple, yet it gets it's message across very well. Time just flies by. :)

this poem has a shadow poem, which is really neat, because the content itself is very strong.
