Dr. Gachet

Dr. Gachet

A Poem by Tom Friel

More tired
Than sleepy
One man’s resignation
Is another man’s genius
Stroked in sadness
Both men feel
The weight of the world
As one man heals
And one man paints

A Sympathetic
Old man
Painted alone
Waiting...
Waiting...
to be interrupted
"Dr. Gachet!"
"Dr. Gachet!"
Come quick!
Vincent is sick
Again

Odd how an artist in his lifetime gave paintings in exchange for meals but after his death his works become worth millions

Very interesting. A poem (and a vignette in a way) about Van Gogh and a doctor. Both art and medicine have the power to heal. Great concept.
