Old Love Letters

Old Love Letters

A Poem by Tom Friel

Old Love Letters

Romantic
In so many ways
Especially when they are found
By accident
Old love letters
Can say so much
Just holding the letter
Says, “I love you”
“Always”

The memories
The man
The life you shared
Raising six children
He’s been gone for over three
Lonesome years
Still you miss him
More than a little
More than a lot
More than you can say

The look in your eyes
Holding the letters
You thought he’d thrown away
Says it all
A romantic at heart
Knowing they’d be found
Eventually
Waiting for the right moment
To once again say
"I love you"
