Life Without You

Life Without You

A Poem by Tom Friel

life without you
impossible it seems
you molded us
so much more
than we
ever molded you
you turned us away
you turned us in
to something
never discussed
a silent case
a certain hell
a childish
self-disgust
we kept it hidden

or so we thought
a game of hide
and never seek
so many years
it took to feel
just enough
to close the game
I could never beat
and here I stand
to understand
the body that I see
I touch your skin
as cold as mine
a single tear
hits my knee
