The Quintessential Question

The Quintessential Question

A Poem by Tom Friel

Today began
Today would end
Today a lifetime would pass

Never seeing
Never knowing
Never to be given what he asked

Always thinking
Always looking
Always tempered by his past

Slowly slipping
Slowly asking
Slowly death will come to pass

He asked
The quintessential question
One last and final time

He raised his hand repeatedly, the answer blew his mind
