A Wish To Fly

A Wish To Fly

A Poem by Tom Friel

Bury me in a bright red cape
This "Superman"
Now rest in state
No midnight oil did I burn
Life was kind
Still I learned

To keep my heart
Much like a child’s
To find a star
And wish awhile

A child's wish
A wish to fly
Like an arrow
Across the sky

Simple words
Placed by my side
A child's wish
Before goodbye

Bury me in a bright red cape
Poems in hand
May they escape
To fly above the earth and trees
To fly above
For all to see
