At The Zoo

At The Zoo

A Story by Tom Friel

“Someone told me it’s all happening at the zoo, I do believe it, I do believe its true.”

- Simon & Garfunkle

Some call me reactionary
Some call me imaginary
Wars are always so contrary
Peace today is so damn scary

Take the train to democracy
On the way pass atrocities
Step around old liberties
Excuse unsightly poverties

At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo
At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo

Come see George swing and sway
He likes to bully and get his way
Dick’s out of his cage today
He’s got a gun are you his prey?

Guantanamo Bay just stay away
The animals are throwing trays
Torture them if they disobey
Uncle Sam's feet are stuck in clay

At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo
At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo

Everyplace is getting hotter
No one’s getting any smarter
Global greed does not succeed
Working for peanuts doesn’t feed

Take your pick we got both parties
Hold your nose they like to potty
Their building up to World War Three
Would someone clean the cages please!

At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo
At the zoo, do, do, do, dooo,
Do, do, do, dooo
