For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her

For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her

A Poem by Tom Friel

Have you been waiting
For me very long?

Sorry, I waddle these days
I was waddling home
From the playground
Preparing myself
For my new cubicle
It comes with my new job

Julio was playing his
Simon & Garfunkle

And Emily, wherever I may find her
Was teasing us both with her cute
Tart, dangling conversations
Cloudy patterns fill that girl’s life
Much like the rest of us it seems
Together we all crossed a bridge

Refreshed by the currents below
Emily, as if to christen the moment
Scattered a woven satchel of
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
It was then that I kissed her
She did not blush
We were only
Feelin’ groovy

Gentle (on my mind), caring, loving! Beautiful really!
These days so many here at the Cafe try to write about relationships under the guise of "erotica" and it just drives me nuts. It reminds me of teenagers with computers... truly!
This is really so gentle and lovely. Thanks to Emily for sending it!

This is so refreshingly ... free, you make it seem so easy, and that's the best poetry, the kind that seems effortless but has obviously taken so much thought and emotion. It really stands out, I just love it. Thanks to Emily for sending it my way.

I could never turn down a poem that is "For Emily". I hope that wherever you find her that she is as lovely as she sounds here. Such a sweet, light poem. I love the laid back feel of it.

Clever. Title caught me instantly I thought "no... he didn't just re-write the song" Its just a shame all this didn't occur when the sky was a hazy shade of winter ;)
