![]() Just Another Day On The JobA Poem by Princess_ck84![]() 5th in series of poems, follows "Sisters Are Forever"![]() Just Another Day On The Job Switch off ignition, heave out a breath Hands, white-knuckled, grip the wheel Never have I seen such a death Here to tell poor Jane the whole ordeal Tell her that I found her youngest girl, Bloodied – broken; sending her life awhirl If only it had been some other teen… And why can I still hear her scream? Pocket thrumming, awoken by my cell Trembling, I stare blankly at the screen Calling is my darling daughter Elle The only other member of our team Laughing, she sees right through my lies When asked if I’m alright, her Voice tells me there’s a smile in her eyes Sending my very own into a blur Now stronger through reassuring words, I grab my badge; glancing in the mirror, I say a prayer of thanks to the Lord For each day I have with my daughter Crystal Kells
