Insomniac

Insomniac

A Poem by Princess3Morag

I lie awake, I just can’t sleep,

There’s this feeling that’s just too deep.
It’s in my mind, everywhere,
and it’s something I can’t seem to share
I feel lost and isolated,
and when I try to think I only feel frustrated.
Should I take something or stay awake?
I’m not sure how much more I can take.
I’m just such a hopeless wreck,
but I guess that’s to be expected when you’re an insomniac.
Especially now when my lovelife’s a mess,
the amount of sleep keeps getting less.
Do you love me? I’m just not sure,

you’re so vague, I just don’t know it anymore.
So now my head is full with thoughts that drive me insane,
and you’re leaving a mark on my heart like a stain.
So tell me now, tell me what you’re feeling,
because I’m tired of just daydreaming.
I just wanna sleep to lay my thoughts to rest,
I just wanna sleep to not feel that pain in my chest.

I just wanna sleep for those reasons so true,
but mostly I wanna sleep so I can dream of you…

Sad and sweet, the ending was lovely and unexpected. You really captured that sense of longing for something you can't have. Nice work and thanks for sharing this.
