Fingernails

Fingernails

A Poem by Jake Scott
"

Incomplete

"

You had no fingernails.

Where your nails should have been,

there were stubs.

Skin.

You said it was a birth defect, that you couldn't help it.

It never bothered me much.

Except whenever I saw you picking at your fingers,

under the table,

in math.
