Chasing ghosts

Chasing ghosts

A Poem by lemon_zest

At first, she thought the flashing lights in the night sky
Were a sea of twinkling stars.
As she relished in the mingling scents of wet concrete and freshly brewed coffee,
She felt his palms gently intertwine with hers,
Soft almost paper thin like the whispers of the wind.
Then she blinked.
One blink.
Four blinks.
She looks again.
Her heart heavy.
It's not real.
The plane is a plane about to land soon.
The wind tugs a bit stronger this time.
It's getting chilly tonight.
She looks back one last time.
There's nothing there now.
Perhaps, there was nothing there to begin with.
