What is This? A Dream?A Chapter by MeganGo!A young man, a mere teenager, awoke gradually under the heat of a desert sun. He groaned as the brightness of the shining sun sent a wave of pain through his head. You're dehydrated, he thought to himself - or was that someone else's voice? Of course not; that wouldn't make any sense. The boy attempted to examine himself through a hazy mindset. His body vaguely ached, but he couldn't locate any specific points of pain, and he noticed no skin-deep injuries. He couldn't remember his name, but was surprised to feel that this didn't worry him. But the fact that he wasn't worried was worrying him and shouldn't he wonder what his name was? And- Oh! He threw a hand up to his forehead at the burst of pain behind his eyes. You're dehydrated, he heard again, the voice sounding a lot like a doctor reading medical information with detachment. Now he was sure that wasn't his own thoughts. You're dehydrated. Get hydrated. Get hydrated, and then find me. The boy's head cocked in surprise at those words. "Who-?" The boy broke into a coughing fit, realizing his throat was very parched. "Who are you?" he croaked. Go! The urgency in the voice spread through the boy's body. He attempted to jump to his feet, struggling to find purchase in the sand. When he had managed to stand on his own two feet, he'd only taken one wobbly step forward when he collapsed. It was like he’d never walked before. He stood again, taking one careful step forward. When the step was a success, he took another - and then another. He stopped and looked around to find a hint of the best direction to take. There was nothing in the landscape that hinted at civilization. Every direction he looked, waves and waves of sand for miles. There was not even a breeze to shift about the loose grains of sand. picking randomly, he took a hesitant step forward. GO! "I'm trying, damnit!" He was getting real tired of being bossed around by this voice. Who did he think he was? No one bossed him around! He was motherfucking- As he broke into a sprint across the loose sand, the grains beneath his feet suddenly disappeared, and he found himself falling into a massive sinkhole. He cried out, waving his arms about in an attempt to catch something, but nothing passed him save falling sand. The darkness encapsulated him, and his cries went silent.© 2015 MeganAuthor's Note
