Lady In MourningA Poem by JourneyLady In MourningNo one will visit our home No one will give me words of comfort There will be no sympathetic hugs or shoulders to cry upon No guest will linger in our living room No sharing stories of your good ole days There will be no cases of drinks delivered to our residence Nor will the baskets of food arrive in abundance I am a lady in mourning but the world will never know My name will not appear in your obituary The preacher will not acknowledge me as your own Nor will your service flag be laid in my arms No, I will simply be part of the background The one dressed in all black The one crying the hardest The one with the broken heart The one who has lost the most I was the closest person to you I loved you intimately and I was your family Yet, they will all be asking the same question Who is she and why is she here Some have guessed the answer but They will never vocalize it You see, image is everything in their world They represent the cookie-cutter dreams They are the elite and the pristine Life behind their doors is not as it seems Scandals must be kept at bay Therefore, all eyes will ignore me No one will dare to console me for my lost I will be blotted out of your history Your image will remain whiskey clean The world will never know that I am a lady in mourning ©11032011b1
