"BUT RATHER"

i didn't asked you to be my show off.
but rather a freind who would always make me laugh.
I didn't asked you to be my soul mate.
but rather to be who would understand my soul ache.
I didn't asked you to post my pictures.
but rather to save me from those brutal creatures.
I didn't asked you to have fun with my body and make me howl.
but rather to purify my soul.
I didn't asked you to love me forever .
but rather we were always gonna be together.
I didn't asked you to kiss my lips.
but rather to enjoy my trips.
I didn't asked you to make me forget my past.
but rather to make good memories which will ever last.
I didn't asked you to leave up.
but rather I gave up.

I liked the honest tone, I would suggest you not to force rhyme. In last second line you added 'up' just because to rhyme it with the next line. Please edit it. Poetry doesn't mean it should rhyme always.
