A New Bunch Of Happiness

A New Bunch Of Happiness

A Story by Prathima Shet

All the good things come to an end and the better begins followed by the best.

After an eventful celebrations of Belaku Shishu Nivasa's anniversary we moved onto a new orphanage home called 'Adwaya' in Oct 2013. It is obviously a challenging task to mould the rock into a statue. It was totally different experience here from what we had in the past.

OCT 2 2013, Our approach begun with a short play interacting with the kids and giving out few basic messages about life. The kids were fascinated by the mad character performed by one of our member, popping all the balloons which he had tied around him, and a few kids running here and there, fighting, shouting and what not, oh ya a few even started throwing stones but amidst all these the message was well conveyed and a day well spent.

The very next Saturday we started conducting the workshop from 5 to 7. The first few classes was literally a mess, as it was a new thing for them, we did not get much of cooperation. We had to push hours together in vain just to make them sit inside, regardless of our efforts, they cooked up numerous reasons and ran out of the class and indeed a few slept peacefully inside the class itself :-D

It was only by the mid of November month, the kids started taking us seriously. Until then they treated us just like the other volunteers who came here to have fun; share toys, toffees and so on.

As time changed, even the things started changing, kids listened to us, gave us priority. Now the workshop begins with dhyaana and the interactive sessions among the 4 groups which we have formed. In between all these, we randomly select a few kids and teach them mono/dual acting & dumb charades, which they love to perform. At the end of each performance we see many hands raised for their chances to act next-a sight which encourages us to teach more, learn more & of course enjoy even more :)

At the end of the day, the pleasant view of our 'bunch of happiness (of course yes, the kids)' bidding us good bye for the day and waiting to see us in the next class is an immense pleasure to the heart!
