Avoiding Me Is Not Easy....!A Poem by Prasun ParimalHave you ever felt any compassion for the destitute children on the street? Some are not just made for that like the one in this poem.Avoiding that song was not easy... It succeeded in beckoning me towards the crowd,
Only to force me to remind- That biting cold morning, When someone pulled my clothes for me to look back. He was spreading his hands in a torn filthy shirt Which had only one left button fastened the other side. In an ill-fitted half pants, As, I remember, His fly was either rusted or half open. The lamented face of his bore dirty yellowish teeth behind the
dry, rough lips. The Boy, as, I sensed, was begging something very earnestly-
Showing his contort tongue and, failing in an attempt to move
me In return I moved my steps fast to avoid his ranked skin contact. But, Avoiding him was not easy..! The Boy followed me with his one crooked leg. But failed to compete me; albeit, Succeeded in falling down and to show Droplet of pearls in
the corner of his eyes. One poor looking man standing just behind helped him to
stand back only to slap him. "Lame and dumb have no right to beg also" Were the words from that man which triggered my Hand to
search for something in my pocket. Today, the same man is beating a drum and The singing Boy fails to hide himself from me. He wants to move, only to avoid my ranked eye contact But today, Avoiding me is not easy.....! © 2016 Prasun Parimal |
