Tired

Tired

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

I ride the subway yet again
Look around and not one grin
Tired, restless, incomplete
People staring at their feet
No twinkle in their eyes nor gleem
All have given up a dream

I've so been there done that. Riding the subways and buses in Chicago. The humdrum heartbeat of strangers...so much silence in the mundane. We hear...without tuning in...because we've already tuned the world out.

This is so relevant to me right now... I'm on the subway, reading poetry, surrounded by other lifeless vessels in transit.
