I remember you forever

Now without you, I am free

Nightmares shall not escape me

But stronger, myself, I'll always build

This is who I am, my choice  

It took you to bring me forward

No more running, no more hiding

I embrace the darkness of my past

You could have broken the cycle

Instead, you transferred it to me

I refuse to become someone just like you

I release all chains from which I'm bound

This weight from off my shoulders

I channel all of my pain

I will make better tomorrows

So no one else must face what I went through

I will show the world what I've become

Share my story with all who care

Very brave, the effort to break the cycle. It's a beautiful and a difficult thing, to change the world for the better. Self pity gets you nowhere. Anger leads to more violence. Courage can lead to changes and wonderful tomorrows. That's what life is all about.
